Sipadan Island, known as "God's Aquarium," is a world-class wall diving destination. Spanning just 1.5 kilometers in circumference, the island boasts remarkable marine biodiversity. Diving Highlights
1. Barracuda Tornado
Hundreds of moray eels form a swirling school, circling divers in a spectacular display. Best viewing depth: 15-25 meters.
2. Jackfish Storm
Thousands of jack fish form a silver storm, moving like lightning. Commonly seen from 7 to 9, at depths of 20 to 30 meters.
3. Turtle Cleaning Station
Green turtles regularly visit cleaning stations to have parasites removed by small fish. They are encountered on almost every dive, making them an iconic sight in Sipadan.
4. Cliffs
Surrounding Sipadan, the seabed drops vertically into sheer cliffs reaching depths of up to 600 meters. These walls are covered in vibrant soft corals and sea fans, creating a stunning visual impact.
Diving Requirements
- Minimum qualification: AOW (Advanced Open Water Diver)
- Experience requirement: at least 20 dives
- Physical Requirements: Good health; no history of heart disease, hypertension, or similar conditions.
- Equipment requirements: Bring your own dive computer and backup second stage regulator.
Booking process
- Reserve your spot by booking the hidden store 3-6 months in advance
- Submit dive log to verify certification
- Pay deposit (approx. 50%)
- Pay the remaining balance upon arrival in Semporna
- Attend the safety briefing and receive your dive tag.
- Take a boat to Sipadan (approximately 45 minutes)
- Perform 2 dives (each lasting approximately 45-60 minutes)
